Learn About Bugs, One Surprise at a Time

That’s it. I think I found the most fun way to learn about insects, arachnids, crustaceans, and myriapods in a book.

One surprise at a time.

The book Bugs: A Stunning Pop-up Look at Insects, Spiders, and Other Creepy-Crawlies delivers delight and surprise on every page. Entomologist George McGavin, illustrator Jim Kay and the paper engineers at Walker Books have done a masterful job introducing readers aged 7-10 to taxonomy, insect anatomy, how bugs work, life cycles, and insect habitats. They accomplish this using larger-than-life pop-up insects, clever fold-outs, peek-a-boo doors, and even a book within a book.

This short clip by Walker Books in the UK provides a peek at what is inside this book but does not reveal all there is to open, unfold, pull out, and read. Enjoy.
